PUPPIES!!!

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 20, 2012, 11:54 PM
Wow.  I really wasn't expecting them so soon!  It's almost four in the morning and I'm still sitting here because there may be a fourth puppy.

As of now, we have "Irish" the first pup and a girl!  She's black with a little bit of brown on her face and feet.
"Otter", a dark brown female that looks like her namesake.  LOL
"Slowpoke" a.k.a "Pokey", a boy who took Angel four hours of hard labour to deliver.  He's a lovely golden brown.

Oddly enough, they were born in order of colour!  Black, dark brown then golden brown!

Check out the photos so far!

All I can do is go "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww", in a very annoying voice too, I'm afraid. Be glad you can't hear it!
They are adorable!

Thank you! I'm so happy with the puppies... I wasn't expecting them for another week and a half, but they are all doing well twenty-four hours later. They are smallish -- but squirmy and taking milk from momma. I'm being exceptionally thankful right now for the three little blessings!

I'm going to sell 'em. They are purebred Chihuahuas and I already have three. LOL I own both the mother (Angel Marie) and the father (Chili Bean), as well as another girl (Pixie Dust) who I couldn't ever breed. (Not only did she refuse to respond to a stud repeatedly, she developed a breast tumour and had problems with her uterus, so she had to be spayed. In the end, it was just as well... Pixie is my personal baby. She's with me twenty-four/seven, never leaves my side, sleeps with me every night, shares every single meal with me and I credit her with saving my life in both the spiritual and literal sense. I couldn't have ever sold one of her puppies and no dog will ever manage to take her place -- not even a pup of hers. She's one of those pets that you wish you'd found at the end of your life because the idea of living without her seems impossible.)

I'm pretty obsessed with my three chihuahuas and baby them like you wouldn't believe. I literally treat them if as they are three human children. My fleshy children have two furry sisters and a furry brother. LOL!

LOL! Mine are actually pretty well behaved. If they don't know you, they will bark -- but you'll end up smothered in kisses.

I've had other types of dogs in the past -- Maltese, Cocker Spaniels, Chow, Boston Terrier... My favourite ended up being the Chihuahuas, but I was always really fond of the Maltese, too. :XD:

In some ways Otter is my favourite too. I'm torn between Otter and Irish... for very different reasons. Irish required a LOT of my help at first since she was almost strangled, so I'm kinda attached for that reason -- but Otter just has that "something", you know? I like Pokey, but erm, I already have a boy dog and heavens know I just need one male at a time. Chili has a lot of personality and I just don't need two boys. LOL

I seriously doubt Merlin will let me keep any of the pups and frankly, Pixie wouldn't stand for it. She doesn't like sharing me with Angel and Chili as it is.

The problem with being a hobby breeder is that you don't have enough litters to ever get used to selling all the puppies. Every single litter has left me loving one puppy particularly. The first litter of Angel's I was absolutely in love with "Sugar" (renamed Tia by her adoptive parents) and the second litter I was in love with Bumble. I think this litter is going to really make me sad to sell because it might be Angel's last. I don't want to over-breed her (I think three litters of pups is enough) and she middle aged because I've waited three years between each litter.

Congratz on the pups! Each one seems darker than the last. Hmmm.
